Johnny grew up in Shawnee Kansas where he attended Johnson County Community College before enrolling in the United States Navy Corpsman Medic Program. While on active duty he attended Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Parkville University pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Health Care and Financial Management. He is the father of 2 boys and has a passion for sailing and travel. He has been the Financial Director for Lee’s Summit Honda or Lee’s Summit Subaru for 23 years. and the owner of Midwest Financial Services.

He currently has 2 animal rescue cats. Fatz a 25-pound street-rescued Maine Coon that he has had for 9 years, and Skins a once half-starved cat that was close to feral. Now after 3 years of working with him almost every day he sleeps on the red chair in the living room a couple of hours a day and will actually let Johnny pick him up and hold him.
